AGM Tuesday 16th February 2010

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As you are aware we do not issue AGM minutes until next year and so I detail below some of the salient points from the meeting.

The next Meeting is on Tuesday the 6th April 2010 7.30pm at Springvale. This is the Ball Collection and other admin collection night.
Could I please ask that to help with cash flow that you return payment for the balls to the treasurer as soon as possible.

For those clubs that have entered the 2010 Knockout, the draw has been made and is available to view on the League Play-Cricket site and will be on our bespoke site within 24hrs.Please note the dates that the games have to be played by.

As advised 19 clubs are yet to register players on the league play-cricket website, please note the deadline is 3rd April 2010. If any club needs help please do not hesitate to contact me.

There is a Scorers course starting on the 18th April at Wednesbury CC.The course is being run by John Rushton Tel.Nos. 01902 404049(Work) or 01902 847535(Home). Please contact John if anyone from your club is interested.

As Presented the League has paid for all Staffordshire registered clubs within the SCCC to become members of the Staffordshire Association of Grounds men, who hold regular meetings do discuss ground issues and offer help and advice on how to maintain and improve playing facilities. STAG will email clubs with dates for meetings and all clubs are encouraged to send the appropriate person if possible.

Finally and very importantly YOUNG PLAYERS IN ADULT CRICKET

I read out a statement from the ECB which stated " Any player in year 7 and below(Under12 at midnight on 31st AUGUST in the year preceding the current season) CANNOT play in open age cricket with or without written consent". This statement caused concern with most clubs and as such the Executive committee has decided the following.

Due to SCCC constitution(Relating to items put before AGM must be in writing 28 days prior toAGM) the directive will not be instigated for season 2010 and will not come into force until season 2011. The memo from ECB allows this.

However I must remind you all that you have a duty of care to protect any minor that plays for your club. The Executive will act in the strongest manor if any club or individual is reported and found guilty of abuse of a minor whether it be verbal or physical.

We do however have trust in all our clubs that the matches in which minors are involved will be played within the rules and spirit of cricket.

Could I please ask you to check your club's insurance policies that all players irrespective of age are covered in case of injury or accident.

If anyone has any questions please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind Regards

Kev.

Kevin Herbert

Hon Secretary.
